MUSIC

Minister of Music
Karl Marzolf - marzolf@pvumc.net
Karl is our resident "music dude". He went to school in the mountains of the foreign country known as West Virginia. Then he received some sort of other piece of paper from somewhere called the Cleveland Institute of Music (“tute” for short). When parole finally came through after six years, he spent time back home with his wife’s folks in Northern Virginia where he lived as an unemployed musician (is there any other kind) for many years but did not spend his time unwisely. He and his wife Katy Jean had three daughters while holding down 5 jobs between them. Karl came to PVUMC in 2003 in an attempt to become part the slower pace of life in the south (boy, was he in for a surprise!) Karl continues to remain active by directing the adult ensembles, overseeing the music department and the technology for the church.

Organist/Accompanist
Jan Wilkerson- rwilkerson1@ec.rr.com
Jan joined the staff of PVUMC as accompanist in August of 2003. She retired from Brunswick County Schools in December of 2003 but has volunteered as an accompanist for area schools since retirement. Jan and Bob have two daughters, Lindsay and Meagan, and two grandchildren, Maleah and Miller.

She leads a very active volunteer group that helps with preparing Wednesday Night Suppers, Lenten lunches and other meals, including District Pastors meetings and the Methodist Home for Children. Shirley has a passion for “feeding” the children and youth at summer camp, and keeps all the kitchen products and supplies on hand.  Shirley is married to Archie (see

Building & Maintenance Ministry
Archie McLeod

Archie started working at the church in 2002 after taking early retirement from DuPont.  He likes to tell everyone that he retired and 3 months later, Shirley (his wife, see above) got him a job at the church. Archie does all sorts of behind the scenes things. Most of the year he stays busy setting up tables and chairs, then taking them down again. He does this for the many suppers, meetings and other events at PVUMC. Archie is always on the lookout for burnt out light bulbs, trash, broken equipment, and whatever anyone else asks him to do. In his spare time Archie loves to “wet a hook”, (not always catching fish) and working in the yard. He also enjoys working on the family farmland in Robeson county. His biggest challenge is keeping Shirley straight in the kitchen.
