OUR BELIEFS
PVUMC Vision and Mission Statements
"Each person at Pine Valley United Methodist Church is called to be a disciple of Jesus. We will honor God through passionate worship, fervent prayer, intentional study of the Word and joyful obedience. We will strengthen all whom God sends to this community with love and encouragement. We will teach generosity and faithful stewardship. We will hold each other accountable in love. We will be a community of faith where everyone is wanted, welcomed, and appreciated. We will reach out to those beyond this community by witness, service and example. We will work faithfully to emulate the servant model of Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit."
What is the Joel Team?
The Joel Team was established in the Fall of 2006. The purpose of the Joel Team is to have visions and dream dreams for PVUMC.
What is a vision?
A mental image produced by the imagination. Example: "I believe that this nation should commit itself to achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning him safely to the earth." (President Kennedy, May 25, 1961)
Why have a vision?
A vision tells who we are, why we are here, what we believe in, and where we are going.
The Biblical version of this principle comes from the Old Testament book of Proverbs, which tells us, "where there is no vision, the people perish" (Proverbs 29:18 KJV).
This is also true of any successful enterprise. They state who they are and what they stand for and the direction they are headed in. It gives members of that enterprise something to identify with, get excited about, and share freely.
Mission Statement for PVUMC:
We are being formed as a community of disciples who share God’s love with everyone so that we all may experience the redemptive and transforming power of Jesus Christ.
What is a Mission Statement?
A statement is the overall purpose of the church. It describes what we do and for whom we do it.
The purpose of a mission statement is to provide a clear standard by which all of our ministries are measured so that we continue to move in the direction of fulfilling our vision.
Scriptures used in developing the vision statement: Matthew 28:19, I Corinthians 14:3, Luke 17:3, Ephesians 1:4-8 and Mark 1:15.
