Missions & Outreach

Local HIV Ministry PVUMC has a wonderful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of people in the Wilmington area who are often shunned by Christians. People living with HIV/AIDS need help with transportation, getting their medicines delivered, and simply experiencing compassion from their community. The outpatient clinic at NHRMC serves children, from infants through late teens, and adults. The kids could benefit from fun group activities. Coastal AIDS Resource Effort is in urgent need of help in providing nourishing food for families infected or affected by AIDS. Faith Community Fund PVUMC participates in this by giving a monthly monetary donation to the Department of Social Services, so they may provide assistance for those in need of help with such necessities as light bills, prescriptions, help with rent, etc. First Time Visitors Bread Ministry

When a visitor attends a PVUMC worship service for the first time, we ask them to fill out a card with their address and contact information. Someone from our baking team will then bake a loaf of fresh homemade bread to be delivered and left on the doorstep of the visitor. It's one way for us to welcome them and let them know we hope they'll come worship with us again. Currently, we are looking for someone to volunteer to coordinate this ministry. If interested, please contact the church office.
Food Pantry PVUMC keeps a fully stocked pantry of non-perishable foods to help feed hungry people in our area. Anyone who needs food is welcome to come. We ask simply for a form of general information to be filled out, and a photo I.D. to be presented. A member of our pantry volunteer team will be happy to assist them and fill their request for food. Pantry hours are Tuesdays 1:00-3:00 and Thursdays 10:00-12:00. For further information, contact Kelly in the church office.
